Spring is always the time of year when our thoughts turn to new growth. What better way to celebrate the season than with the refreshing hues of green? I started off with an antique flower basket that I found at a local antique shop. Then, I purchased a pair of faux chocolate bunnies and placed them on blocks of foam hot glued into place to give them height.

I fashioned bows out of two types of ribbon (plaid and plain) in two slightly different greens to give it depth, and attached them to each side of the basket.

Instead of grass or moss, I decided that these gorgeous fresh hydroponic lettuces would make the perfect filler for this year’s basket. You can wrap a damp paper towel around the roots to keep the lettuces fresh for a day or two. I also added some kale and ruffled lettuce to give the basket more texture and shadings of green. (Remember, after Easter you can use these lettuces for salads!)

I died my eggs in two shades of pale green, to give the “visual depth” to each element.

Then simply place the eggs among the greens. Tucking and “nesting” them into the folds, and you’re all set! You have a fresh and beautiful centerpiece for your Easter brunch or dinner!
